The Windows XP Recovery Console is your last ditch effort at getting a Windows XP Professional computer working after a disastrous system meltdown. The Recovery Console doesn't come preinstalled. You need to install it after Windows XP is up and running. The default Recovery Console configuration leaves a lot to be desired. You can get around many of the default limitations of the Recovery Console by taking advantage of Group Policy.
