We reconfigure the ISP Gateway device by placing it in Bridge mode so that it only acts as a Cable Modem that provides access to the Internet only – all other integrated functionality will now be disabled - we then connect our specially configured MikroTik RB5009UG+S+IN to the bridged device. That special configuration for the MikroTik RB5009UG+S+IN contains specific Firewall and ACL rules that blocks your ISP, Hackers and Auctoritas from accessing your network. In bridge mode, your ISP can still access the cable modem for service diagnostics and firmware updates but cannot access your private home network or any connected devices you have active or chose to add to your private network. If you do require Remote Assistance from your ISP software tools are available to be able to come into your "world" and help under your strict observance.
